My New Morning Routine: An Entrepreneur’s Quest for Ultimate Productivity, Happiness, and Fulfillment

I’ve never been a morning person. In fact, I’ve always been an extreme night owl and had little-to-no morning routine. I feel that the height of my creativity happens after 9pm and I am most excited late at night. While this works really well for my musician life and could potentially be doable in my blogger life, it doesn’t necessarily work well for having a wife, a dog, friends, family, and a real life. Insane Music Week, Part 1: The Boy Who Danced on Air

Let me tell you about my amazing week… Not last week, but the week before, I had one of the most incredibly musically fulfilling weeks I’ve had in a long time. I had two different music projects to work on that week: one, the new musical I’m playing at Diversionary Theatre called The Boy Who Danced on Air, and the other, the re-debut of the Rockett Trio. Since this site is new, I’ll be working my way backwards in shows for a little bit. Just before (and slightly overlapping) Shrek the Musical this summer, I did a three-week run playing All Shook Up. Man, that show was a blast! First, a little background on the show: All Shook Up is set in a small Midwestern town in the mid to late ‘50s. Roustabout Chad gets out of jail and lands in this small town, inadvertantly plays Cupid, and causes Read More …

Shrek the Musical: What I Learned Playing it for the Second Time

In almost 8 years of playing in orchestra pits, this summer marks the first time I’ve ever repeated a show. Here’s what I learned playing Shrek the Musical for the second time: Always give it everything you’ve got and play your best, even when you’re bored. Just because you have played the show a bunch of times before doesn’t mean the audience has seen it before. In fact, the vast, vast majority of the audience probably hasn’t seen it at all. Read More …
