CoSchedule: The Most Powerful, Indispensable Tool in My Business

I’ve been a blogger officially for a year now. Sure, I dabbled in it in 2011-2012, but I’ve been trying to make a go of it seriously since September of last year. During that time, I’ve had my super productive/consistent times and I’ve had my “ignore-the-blog-for-6-weeks” times. Ups and downs. Highs and lows. In this post, I’ll be detailing the one tool that took me from inconsistent and lazy blogger to a consistency powerhouse. Ok, I may not be a Read More …

Why I’m Quitting Quitting, or Why Breaks Don’t Seem to be Helping

I’m realizing that breaks are the downfall of productivity. This is why I’m quitting quitting. I’m not talking about needed and deserved vacations, and I’m not talking about short breaks throughout the day or even tuning out at night. Those are totally necessary and give you the boost of energy you need to keep going throughout the day. Nighttime tune-outs are crucial, but the breaks in the day should be within reason. The types of breaks I’m talking about here Read More …

Guitar Chord Kick-Start: One Day After Launch

Greetings beautiful people! I’m excited to get back to blogging now that I’ve officially launched Guitar Chord Kick-Start and plan to really dive head-first into it. As I mentioned in another post, I broke many promises to you and to myself in order to finish GCKS. Specifically, I promised you all back in February that I would be posting every day until I launched. My plan was to keep you updated on my progress and everything I was working on, Read More …

Quick Update 2/17/16: I’ve Barely Slept in the Last 24 Hours

The last 24 hours have been weird ones. Yesterday was a good day. I got my main task done for the day, and then continued to work on the site for the guitar product. Specifically, I worked on designing the sales letter page of the site. I’m trying something new with this one. See, for the last several years, I’ve mainly been a WordPress guy. While I worked in Joomla and dabbled with a mixture of Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and my Read More …

Quick Update 2/15/16: Weekend Catch-up

I took a little weekend break from writing, but here’s a quick catch-up since my last note.  Saturday was mainly a non-work day. My nephew’s birthday party was in the morning, so Meag and I went up to Orange County for that, met her mom for lunch, then sat in gnarly traffic trying to get home to San Diego. At night, we had a nice hang with one of our best friends (and now neighbor) Danielle. Boring for you reading Read More …

Quick Update 2/12/16

Here it is, day 2 in my “posting every day no matter how boring it is” quick update series I made some more progress in my business today and I feel great! My main task for today was to finalize the first bonus offer for the guitar book. After that, I did some more writing in the third bonus (I’m about 80% done with the second) and took care of a few other things relating to freelance and musician work. After Read More …

Quick (sort of…) Update 2/11/16

Hello lovely people, A heck of a lot has happened since I last wrote to you. First of all, I didn’t launch! Then the holidays happened. Then I didn’t launch again in January like I tentatively planned (I didn’t even tell you about that, did I?). Then I got married and went on a honeymoon. Yeah, I got freaking married! And now here we are. But let’s back up ever so slightly and talk about my wedding. I married my Read More …

Product Launch Coming Soon (ish)

Friends, I apologize for the radio silence over the past several weeks. I’ve been focusing on my projects, had a show going, and have been doing more Uber in addition to starting to work for Postmates, so I put the blog on the backburner. Just a quick update for today I went with my gut and decided to go with a guitar product as my first product. I’ve spent the last weeks building the product — outlining, writing, designing, and Read More …

The Light’s There, Sometimes it’s Just Hard to See

I’ve been struggling lately. The ups and downs of solopreneurship I was told so much about going into this have been in full swing this last week or two. And I mean full swing — I feel like I’ve been going from over-the-moon excited and seeing the possibilities for the future to depressed and feeling like a complete failure (before I’ve even truly begun) in the time it takes me to brush my teeth. And then back. And then back Read More …

Getting it All Out: My First Few Months Working for Myself

So, I’ve been working for myself for a few months, I’ve started this website to hold myself accountable and be transparent about everything I’m doing online, and I think I’ll explain everything in this post — where I am in my process, what I’ve done so far, and what I want to do. The first few weeks working for myself As you may or may not know, Friday, April 10th was my last day of full time employment at the music Read More …
